Research

The HfMDK promotes a dynamic research environment in a dialog between academic, artistic and interdisciplinary research approaches and represents a pluralistic understanding of research.

Research focuses on music education, musicology and dance studies. Research activities in the field of artistic research are also carried out under the title "Research at the University of the Arts". The right to award doctorates is located in Faculty 2.

The research activities at the HfMDK are correspondingly diverse. In addition to major research projects, numerous formats including symposia, conferences, lecture series, seminars and working group meetings are regularly organized.

The international, interdisciplinary conference will focus on the importance of research at art universities. in 2021, the HfMDK established a funding program for researchers entitled "Research at the Kunsthochschule" and has been developing it ever since. Now we add a "plus one": the research teams invite one guest from each of the funded projects. The conference languages are German and English.
