Book rooms

These rules apply to the following properties:

• Buildings A, B and C in Eschersheimer Landstraße
• EL 50
• Gervinusstraße
• Schmidtstrasse
• Schwedlerstrasse

Special "Event" rooms cannot be booked in ASIMUT.

Since May 12, 2025, it has been possible to use rooms at the Frankfurt Music School.

• The 11 rooms are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
• It is important that these rooms are always left as they are found!
• Only water is allowed in the rooms, no food, coffee, tea etc.

How do I book one of these rooms?

In Asimut there will be an extra category: "Music school", under this you will only find the rooms there. The rooms cannot be confirmed as we do not have WLAN there. So: all booked rooms remain booked. If the booking is not needed after all, please delete it so that your fellow students now have a chance to use the room. Otherwise the room will remain empty.

Where can I get the keys for the rooms?

There are two transponders per room at the gate of the HfMDK (Eschersheimer Landstraße), i.e. if you have booked a room in the music school, you have to pick up the key at the HfMDK beforehand. Only then do I go to the music school. There is no way to open the room there!

After practicing, the transponder must be taken directly to the HfMDK. The transponder must be returned within 30 minutes of the end of the reservation. If this does not happen twice, you will be blocked and can no longer book these rooms. Unfortunately, we have to be strict here, as full use only works if everyone adheres to the rules.

It is forbidden to pass on the transponder. The student who borrows the transponder is liable.

Where exactly are the rooms?

The music school is located in the Kunsthalle Schirn (Saalgasse 20, 60311 Frankfurt)

If you are standing in the foyer of the Kunsthalle Schirn, go up the stairs on the left and you will find the rooms of the music school on the left-hand side in the two corridors leading from the upper foyer.

Only keyboard instruments may be used in these rooms. No other instruments may be used, even if they are there (with the exception of the drumset in room 340)

What do I do in case of damage?

Please report any damage immediately to the Music School office (first floor in the Kunsthalle Schirn) and email it to the KBB of the HfMDK(kbb@hfmdk-frankfurt.de). Damage includes, for example, a broken string in the piano.

• In principle,all classrooms are available to all HfMDK students and teachers.
• There is no entitlement to a specific room and a specific time.
• All room bookings must be made online.
• Special "event" rooms cannot be booked in ASIMUT.

• Booking horizon: Bookings can be made for the entire semester from the beginning of the semester.
• Booking contingent:
  • Teachers are provided with a booking contingent that can be used to book rooms
  • Both own bookings and fixed bookings are deducted from the booking quota.
  • The available contingent can be viewed at any time in the main menu.

• Booking horizon: 7 days consecutive
• Booking contingent:
  • Students are provided with a booking quota with which rooms can be booked
  • Students can make bookings for a total of 5 hours.
  • Past bookings no longer count towards the quota so that new bookings can be made.
  • The available quota can be viewed at any time in the main menu.
  • Only 2 hours can be booked during core hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
  • Bookings that are made at short notice and end within the next 4 hours and 15 minutes do not count towards the quota.
  • Bookings may not be shorter than 30 minutes.
  • There must be at least 60 minutes between two bookings by the same person in the same room.
  • Short-notice rooms can only be booked on the same day within the next 4 hours and 15 minutes

• Bookings can be made in ASIMUT at any time and can be changed independently until the start.
• Please release unused reservations online, especially if the use ends prematurely - in the interest of all those looking for rooms.
• Direct forwarding to third parties is not permitted!

• Every reservation must be confirmed within the first 15 minutes of occupancy.
• The confirmation can be made at the gate, by picking up the key or via smartphone in the university's own WLAN network. Students can collect keys for lecturers, the booking is then considered confirmed.
• If the reservation is not confirmed, itexpires without replacement.
• The person making the booking can add other people to their booking as participants.
• The gate staff will only issue keys to those involved in the booking.

During the lecture period:

• Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m
• Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 10 pm

During the semester break:

• Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m
• Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm

Exceptions to the opening hours must be applied for and justified in writing to the KBB in good time, at the latest by the 12th of the previous month.

• The person making the booking is responsible for the proper use of the room.
• Rooms must be used appropriately. In particular, no drinks or food may be placed on instruments. Windows must not be opened during practice, lessons or rehearsals (noise protection). At the end of use, the room must be tidied up and left as it was found. Music stands must remain in the room or be returned. Do not forget to switch off the lights!
• Please report any damage at the gate, via the online form for reporting defects or by e-mail to the building services(hausdienst@hfmdk-frankfurt.de).
• Private teaching is strictly prohibited in all rooms of the university. Any violation will result in the withdrawal of your permission to teach, de-registration or consequences under employment law.
• All rooms have basic equipment, which is stored in ASIMUT. Additional requirements, in particular for event technology, must be requested in good time, but no later than three weeks in advance. Any additional costs incurred will be borne by the respective department.
