E-mail address for freelance lecturers

What does my e-mail address look like?

The e-mail address for freelance lecturers follows the pattern: firstname.lastname@lb.hfmdk-frankfurt.de

When does the e-mail address become active?

Freelance lecturers who have a teaching assignment in the summer semester 2025: You will receive a message to your private e-mail address with all the important information. As soon as you have received this message, you can set up your HfMDK e-mail address.

New freelance lecturers: Your university e-mail address will be set up at the same time as your HfMDK account. You will receive a one-time message to your private e-mail address with all the important information.

Do I have to use the university e-mail address?

From May 15, 2025, the university will send information about your teaching assignment only to your HfMDK e-mail address.

For reasons of IT security, the single sign on login to services such as CampusWEB, moodle etc. can only be set up via an HfMDK e-mail address and not via an external e-mail address, even for you as a self-employed lecturer.

However, you are free to decide whether you would prefer to use the university e-mail address or your private e-mail address, e.g. to communicate with students.

How do I access my e-mail address?

Via the HfMDK Cloud: https://cloud.hfmdk-frankfurt.de

There you will find your mailbox, an internal HfMDK e-mail contact list and other services.

Alternatively, you can also access the mailbox with a mail program of your choice. Here are the server names and ports you need to set it up:

Incoming mail server: imap.rz.hfmdk-frankfurt.de
Protocol: IMAP
Encryption: SSL
Port: 993

Outgoing mail server: smtp.rz.hfmdk-frankfurt.de
Protocol: SMTP
Encryption: STARTTLS
Port: 587

Username: Username of your HfMDK account
Password: The password you have chosen for your HfMDK account.

How do I change my password?

Change password (for freelance lecturers)

Please note that you are changing the password for your whole HfMDK account. This means that you will also need this new password for WiFi, CampusWEB, moodle, Asimut etc.

How secure is my e-mail address?

Your data is stored securely on the university's servers and is protected by the same security measures as all other HfMDK IT services.

I have problems or questions - who can help me?
