What does my e-mail ad­dress look like?

The e-mail ad­dress for stu­dents fol­lows the pat­tern: vor­na­me.nach­na­me@stu­dents.hfmdk-frank­furt.de

Note: If your name ap­pears more than once, a num­ber will be ad­ded (e.g. ma­ria.schmidt2@...).

When does the e-mail ad­dress be­co­me ac­tive?

Stu­dents who are al­rea­dy en­rol­led in May 2025: You will re­cei­ve a mes­sa­ge to your pri­va­te e-mail ad­dress with all the im­portant in­for­ma­ti­on. As soon as you have re­cei­ved this mes­sa­ge, you can set up your HfMDK e-mail ad­dress.

New stu­dents: Your uni­ver­si­ty e-mail ad­dress will be set up at the same time as your HfMDK ac­count. You will re­cei­ve a one-time mes­sa­ge to your pri­va­te e-mail ad­dress with all the im­portant in­for­ma­ti­on.

Do I re­al­ly have to use the ad­dress?

Yes!

From June 12, 2025, the uni­ver­si­ty will only con­tact you via your HfMDK e-mail ad­dress. For stu­dents, the use of the HfMDK e-mail is man­dato­ry from this date.

You can also use your uni­ver­si­ty e-mail ad­dress for ser­vices or pro­vi­ders that of­fer dis­counts for mem­bers of edu­ca­tio­nal in­sti­tu­ti­ons.

Can I con­ti­nue to use my pri­va­te e-mail ad­dress?

For pri­va­te pur­po­ses yes - but from June 12, 2025 no lon­ger for uni­ver­si­ty com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on.

Your pri­va­te ad­dress will re­main stored as an "emer­gen­cy con­tact" (e.g. to re­set your pass­word).

Do I have to in­form my con­tac­ts about my uni­ver­si­ty e-mail ad­dress?

You do not have to in­form an­yo­ne wi­t­hin the uni­ver­si­ty, this hap­pens au­to­ma­ti­cal­ly.

If you want to use the HfMDK e-mail ad­dress out­si­de the uni­ver­si­ty, plea­se in­form your con­tac­ts yours­elf.

How do I ac­cess my e-mail ad­dress?

Via the HfMDK Cloud: https://cloud.hfmdk-frank­furt.de

The­re you will find your mail­box, an in­ter­nal HfMDK e-mail con­tact list and other ser­vices.

Al­ter­na­tively, you can also ac­cess the mail­box with a mail pro­gram of your choice. Here are the ser­ver na­mes and ports you need to set it up:

How do I chan­ge my pass­word?

Chan­ge pass­word (for stu­dents)

Plea­se note that you are chan­ging the pass­word for your who­le HfMDK ac­count. This me­ans that you will also need this new pass­word for WiFi, Cam­pus­WEB, mood­le, Asi­mut etc.

How se­cu­re is my e-mail ad­dress?

Your data is stored se­cu­re­ly on the uni­ver­si­ty­'s ser­vers and is pro­tec­ted by the same se­cu­ri­ty mea­su­res as all other HfMDK IT ser­vices.
