Digitalization affects every area and is more topical and important than ever. Until now, teaching at music universites and conservatoires has been predominantly "analog" in face-to-face classes.

However, digitalization also offers many new opportunities for conservatoires, whether in the classroom, on stage or in research and administration. Digital media, with their fast recording and processing possibilities and the online availability of their content, offer new teaching possibilities and forms.

E-learning and digital learning platforms enable students and lecturers to communicate beyond the classroom, prepare and follow up content together and use classroom time more effectively.

In 2021, we used the cross-departmental "Digital Classroom" project to test which and how digital media and e-learning can be used most effectively in artistic and academic teaching to support sustainable and successful learning. As a follow-up to the project, we introduced two sound-optimized video softwares at the HfMDK: Appassimo and Doozzoo. With these softwares, teachers have the opportunity to offer authentic and sound-optimized digital lessons at the HfMDK.

Our work also focuses on developing the skills of teachers and students with possible further training and advisory services to enable them to make full use of the digital offering.
