The Malbec Piano Quartet was founded in 2018 at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt. Already in the following year, the young ensemble performed at the Rheingau Music Festival, among others.

With violinist Carolin Grün, violist José Batista Junior, cellist Dominik Manz and pianist Anna Stepanova, the Malbec Piano Quartet consists of musicians of different nationalities. The Frankfurt-based ensemble met during its studies and was able to celebrate successes shortly after its foundation, such as the prize of the Kamar Percy and Ingeborg John - Foundation within the framework of the Bad Homburg Master Classes for Chamber Music, which enabled the Malbec Piano Quartet to record and produce its first CD. In 2021 the ensemble won the 1st prize at the competition of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt and was engaged for a concert series.

In addition, the Malbec Piano Quartet participated in the 2021 German Music Competition in Freiburg and reached the semi-finals. Significant for the artistic development of the ensemble was especially the encounter and intensive collaboration with renowned musicians - including Prof. Angelika Merkle, Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Prof. Konstantin Heidrich, Prof. Heime Müller and Prof. Gerald Fauth - within the framework of the International Summer Academy for Chamber Music in Frenswegen and the Chamber Music Campus in Lübeck.
