Start of Se­mes­ter, April 11th

Start of the new stu­dent group G10. The stu­dents from Chi­le, Fin­land, Lit­hua­nia and Rus­sia bring a wide ran­ge of know­ledge from con­tem­pora­ry dance tech­ni­ques, ur­ban dance, vi­deo art, dance cri­ti­cism and so­ci­al work to the stu­dy pro­gram.

Tu­es­days with MA CoDE, every Tu­es­day from April 11th

To fur­ther streng­t­hen the MA CoDE net­work, the new for­mat "Tu­es­days with MA CoDE" is in­tro­du­ced. Every Tu­es­day, an alum­nus tea­ches at MA CoDE and thus im­parts in­di­vi­du­al tea­ching ap­proa­ches. Du­ring the se­mes­ter, 14 events will be held. Anja Bornšek, Ales­san­dra Cor­ti, Ron­ja Eick, Eri Fu­naha­shi Geen, Ver­ó­ni­ca Gar­zon, Jo­ana Gru­ber­s­ka, Lau­ra Hicks, Jun­gye­on Kim, Ioulia Kok­ko­kiou, Mar Ro­dríguez Val­ver­de, Ka­te­lyn Skel­ley, Ame­lia Uz­a­te­gui Bo­nil­la, Hans Ca­mil­le Van­col and Ewe­li­na Zielon­ka are guests at MA CoDE.

Prac­tice ana­ly­sis in dance, Jit­ka Štá­vo­va, Wib­ke Har­te­wig & Da­vid Rit­ters­haus, from April 26th 

The stu­dents will use va­rious ana­ly­ti­cal me­thods such as per­for­mance ana­ly­sis (Dr. Jit­ka Štá­vo­va), mo­ve­ment ana­ly­sis (Dr. Wib­ke Har­te­wig) and vi­deo ana­ly­sis/Mo­ti­on Bank (Da­vid Rit­ters­haus) to ex­plo­re the trans­fer of mo­ve­ment into lan­guage. The re­sults will be dis­cus­sed in a round ta­ble on May 31st.

Con­flict Ma­nage­ment, Dana Casper­sen, from Mai 10th 

Dana Casper­sen, spe­cia­list in con­flict ma­nage­ment and long-time dan­cer with Wil­liam For­sy­the, in­te­gra­tes her ar­tis­tic ex­pe­ri­ence into new for­mats of con­flict re­so­lu­ti­on. In six on­line mee­tings, she gi­ves stu­dents an in­sight into her "Chan­ging the Con­ver­sa­ti­on" stra­te­gy and par­ti­ci­pato­ry pro­jec­ts that she has rea­li­sed in re­cent ye­ars.

Do­cu­men­ta­ti­on For­mats, Flo­rence Co­rin­na & Bap­tis­te An­dri­en, Mai 17th to June 5th  

How are body ex­pe­ri­en­ces trans­la­ted into other ma­te­ri­als and do­cu­men­ted? Flo­rence Co­rin and Bap­tis­te An­dri­en from Cont­re­dan­se have been working on this for ye­ars and con­ti­nue to find new trans­la­ti­ons with ar­tists such as Ste­ve Paxt­on, Anna Hal­prin and Lisa Nel­son. Ques­ti­ons of dance do­cu­men­ta­ti­on as well as cur­rent re­se­arch and do­cu­men­ta­ti­on re­sults were pre­sen­ted and dis­cus­sed.

In­clu­si­on, Gus­ta­vo Fi­ja­l­kow, June 7th to 23rd

Gus­ta­vo Fi­ja­l­kow gi­ves a first over­view of in­clu­si­on and working with non-nor­ma­ti­ve bo­dies. The se­mi­nar will be con­ti­nued in WS 23/24 with a Mo­ve­Tank. The se­mi­nar is pre­pa­red by a lec­tu­re by Prof. Dr. Kat­ja Schnei­der at Uni­que@dance on the work of Rai­mund Ho­g­he on May 3rd.

Thea­t­re of the World, June 29th to July 2nd

MA CoDE par­ti­ci­pa­tes in the Stu­dent Aca­de­my at Thea­t­re of the World 2023. In work­shops, dis­cus­sions and per­for­mance vi­sits, the stu­dents will en­ga­ge in an in­ten­si­ve ex­chan­ge with the cu­ra­tor Chia­ki Soma and in­vi­ted ar­tists such as Apichat­pong Weeras­etha­kul, Sao­dat Is­mai­l­o­va and Ho Tzu Nyen, as well as with stu­dents from To­kyo Uni­ver­si­ty of the Arts, Gie­ßen Ap­p­lied Thea­t­re Stu­dies, Goe­the Uni­ver­si­ty and Of­fen­bach Uni­ver­si­ty of Art and De­sign. Prof. Dr. Kat­ja Schnei­der is ac­com­pany­ing the pro­ject and mo­de­ra­ting two cri­tique dis­cus­sions as part of the aca­de­my. The for­mat is sup­por­ted by the HTA.
