Symposium GTF, 27 - 29 September 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl and Prof. Katja Schneider will travel to Zurich for the symposium "Sens(e)ation" of the Gesellschaft für Tanzforschung at the Zhdk.

 

International Student Campus on 20th Century Dance Heritage, August 26 - September 2, 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl developed and directs the International Student Campus on 20th Century Dance Heritage for the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Prof. Katja Schneider will participate in a conversation on manifestos in dance.

 

Hollins European Summer School, July 15-20, 2019

The Hollins European Summer School will take place in Berlin for the first time this year. The American master's program hosts an annual residency program in cooperation with MA CoDE. In the top-class program with trainings, seminars and performances, international artists and scholars share their positions.

 

Public Cultural Committee Meeting City of Frankfurt, June 13, 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl was invited as speaker for the public meeting of the Cultural Committee of the City of Frankfurt on the topic of dance at the Mousonturm.

 

HTA/LAB Postgraduate Funding, June 12, 2019

Susanne Triebel was a jury member of the HTA/LAB postgraduate funding and a jury member of the commission for the qualifying examination for the MA CuP at the University of Giessen.

 

Teaching in Department 2, May 15 - July 3, 2019

MA CoDE students teach the module Music and Other Forms of Performance to L1 students in FB2. Contemporary choreographic manuscripts will be physically tested and impulses for integration into teaching approaches of the participants* will be given.

 

Mentoring Program Presentation, July 4, 2019

The mentoring program will include several hours of one-on-one meetings with the outside experts throughout the semester. At the end of the semester, the process will be concluded with an exchange and final presentation.

 

Audition in Frankfurt am Main, 14 and 15 June 2019

The second and final audition for the admission of Generation 8 of the MA CoDE will take place in Frankfurt am Main.

 

Dance Congress Hellerau Dresden, 5 - 10 June 2019

Under the title "A long lasting affair", the Federal Cultural Foundation invites dance professionals to Hellerau near Dresden again this year. Under the artistic direction of Meg Stuart, the students will discuss and develop goals together in questions around starting a career as well as in conversation with actors in the field of work.

Advisory Board Dance Congress 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl is a member of the advisory board for the "German Dance Congress", an initiative of the Federal Cultural Foundation, which takes place every three years.

 

Symposium Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste, May 24, 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl moderated various working groups at the symposium of the Federal Association of Independent Performing Arts in Berlin on the topic of training.

 

Excursion to Stralsund, May 20 - 24, 2019

As a continuation to the exchange at Schloss Bröllin, students in Stralsund will have the opportunity to apply the training approaches they have developed in the context of teaching with various target groups in the school sector.

 

Visit to Bröllin Castle, 19 May 2019

At the residence centre for contemporary dance makers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, students will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with teachers and artists about possible subject curricula in the field of dance and school.

 

DANCE Festival for contemporary dance, May 16 - 26, 2019

Prof. Katja Schneider was dramaturge at DANCE, the international festival for contemporary dance in Munich.

 

Seminar Dance Politics, May 14. - June 13, 2019

Together with Prof. Ingo Diehl, students develop thematic focuses on the topic of dance politics using national and international examples. The seminar will conclude with an excursion to Berlin and meetings with various institutions and professional associations.

 

Preparatory meeting for the Dance Education Biennial 2020, 10 - 12 and 17 May 2019

Susanne Triebel is involved in the preparations for the Biennale Dance Education 2020 in Hamburg as a member of the speaker group of the Education Conference (AKT).

 

Foundation of the international working group, May 9 - 11, 2019

Prof. Ingo Diehl together with Jenny Roche (University of Limerick/Ireland) and Caroline Ribbers (Fontys Hogeschool voor de Künsten/Netherlands) founded an international working group on the topic: "Learning environments in dance education". The exchange was funded by ERASMUS.

 

Preparatory seminar for the dance congress, 10-11 May 2019

Dr. Eike Wittrock, co-curator of this year's Dance Congress in Hellerau near Dresden, will give the students an introduction to address the current professional discourse in advance in the course. Finally, there will be a joint visit to the event.

 

Seminar with Prof. Hannah Shatki Bühler, May 8 - June 1, 2019

Together with students of the MA CoDE, Prof. Ingo Diehl and Prof. Hannah Shakti Bühler, new adequate testing criteria for contemporary dance teaching will be developed. The results will be evaluated in concrete testings with Bachelor students.

 

Workshop for the independent contemporary scene in Gdansk, May 5, 2019

Students will give practical insights into different hybrid and contemporary training approaches in dance in a workshop. The selected practices will be based on current artists, techniques or published choreographic processes including Meg Stuart, Deborah Hay, Sebastian Matthias and others.

 

Audition in Gdansk, May 3 and 4, 2019

For the first time, MA CoDE is hosting one of its international auditions in Gdansk, Poland. In collaboration with MA CoDE alumna Kasia Utowska, this will take place at Klub Zak, one of the oldest student clubs in Poland.

 

New Music Night "Silent Post", April 30, 2019

As a contribution, students will interact with faculty and students from the Directing and Artistic Instrumental Flute programs for an interdisciplinary project.

 

KIT Workshop Claire Cunningham & Jess Curtis, April 26-28, 2019

In a workshop format, Claire Cunningham and Jess Curtis experiment with different ways of perceiving and seeing gender, body, age, origin, and reference their collaborative work "The Way You Look (at me) Tonight". They question habits and customs of how we see the world and each other.

 

New professorship in dance theory

Dr. Katja Schneider will become professor for dance theory in the dance courses (BAtanz, MA CoDE) and further master courses at the HfMDK in summer semester 19.

 

Intertanz Workshop, 11 - 13 April 2019

Complementing the topic "The fuzzy mess of the Compost and Spirit: Epistemology of dancing bodies" by Prof. Bojana Kunst and "Impossible Practice " by Carolina Mendorca in WS 18/19, Spanish artist Paz Rojo leads a 3-day workshop. Intertanz takes place for the second time at the HfMDK and is a cooperation project of the Hessian dance courses.

 

Semester start, April 8, 2019

The 7th generation students begin their third semester with individual lessons they developed based on materials from significant artistic figures.
