In the con­text of the Ber­li­ner Fest­spie­le, this ye­ar's Tanz­tref­fen der Ju­gend has in­vi­ted alum­ni and stu­dents of the MA CoDE to be re­p­re­sen­ted with va­rious for­mats.

The­re will also be a Ma­ra­thon Talk: A spe­cial kind of con­ver­sa­ti­on for­mat pro­mi­ses in­te­res­ting per­spec­tives on the way ar­tists, cu­ra­tors and cul­tu­ral po­li­ti­ci­ans tick. MA CoDE alum­na Anja Born­sek will of­fer a Phy­si­cal In­tro­duc­tion to Edu­ar­do Fu­ku­shi­ma's "How to Over­co­me the Gre­at Ti­red­ness?" as part of the event on Au­gust 22.

Phy­si­cal In­tro­duc­tion @ Dance in Au­gust, Au­gust 15-30, 2014

Fol­lo­wing the suc­cess­ful col­la­bo­ra­ti­on at last ye­ar's edi­ti­on of Dance in Au­gust, cho­reo­graph­ers and dan­cers will once again join MA CoDE stu­dents to of­fer a phy­si­cal in­sight into their work in warm-ups pri­or to per­for­man­ces as part of the fes­ti­val events. In con­trast to con­ven­tio­nal in­tro­duc­to­ry events, this of­fers the op­por­tu­ni­ty to ex­pe­ri­ence the ar­tis­tic si­gna­tu­re of the cho­reo­graph­ers at first hand through ex­er­ci­ses and con­cre­te examp­les on their own bo­dies. Par­ti­ci­pa­ti­on and dan­cing is en­cou­ra­ged. The for­mat was de­ve­lo­ped by Prof. Ingo Diehl tog­e­ther with Bet­ti­na Ma­such, the for­mer ar­tis­tic di­rec­tor of the fes­ti­val. This year MA CoDE alum­na Anja Born­sek ta­kes over the di­rec­tion for the first time.

Sum­mer Re­si­den­cy at Hol­lins Uni­ver­si­ty, USA, July 14 - Au­gust 2, 2014

Du­ring the Frank­furt re­si­den­cy, M.F.A. stu­dents from Hol­lins Uni­ver­si­ty will join MA CoDE stu­dents in at­ten­ding clas­ses with in­ter­na­tio­nal­ly re­now­ned ar­tists and scho­l­ars and ex­ch­an­ging ide­as with each other. The three-week re­si­den­cy in Frank­furt is a coope­ra­ti­on with the Mas­ter's pro­gram Con­tem­pora­ry Dance Edu­ca­ti­on at the Frank­furt Uni­ver­si­ty of Mu­sic and Per­forming Arts and the For­sy­the Com­pa­ny.

MA CoDE Speed Da­ting 2014, June 25, 2014

Last year, the MA CoDE de­vi­sed a men­to­ring sche­me to sup­port the de­ve­lop­ment of stu­dents' in­di­vi­du­al work prio­ri­ties. In or­der to match stu­dents with po­ten­ti­al men­tors, a speed-da­ting ses­si­on was held in which all par­ti­ci­pants sha­red their re­spec­tive ex­per­ti­se. This se­mes­ter, stu­dents of the MA CoDE had the op­por­tu­ni­ty to work with Bap­tis­te An­dri­en and Flo­rence Co­rin (cont­re­dan­se), Nan­cy Stark Smith, An­drea Keiz and Wib­ke Har­te­wig on va­rious me­thods and ques­ti­ons of dance do­cu­men­ta­ti­on. Fi­nal­ly, the aim of the 10-day pro­ject was to crea­te their own do­cu­men­ta­ti­on of Nan­cy Stark Smit­h's tea­ching units

Tanz­Sprint14, May 18 - 25, 2014

Gra­dua­tes and stu­dents of the Mas­ter's pro­gram­me Con­tem­pora­ry Dance Edu­ca­ti­on (MA CoDE, form­er­ly MAztp) at the Frank­furt Uni­ver­si­ty of Mu­sic and Per­forming Arts (HfMDK) will or­ga­ni­seTanz­Sprint14 from 18 - 25 May 2014. In the se­venth edi­ti­on, the dan­cers will dance tog­e­ther for a week in three stu­di­os and several work­shops. The 16 tea­chers from the in­ter­na­tio­nal MA CoDE net­work will pro­vi­de an up-to-date in­sight into va­rious dance tech­ni­ques and working me­thods. Con­tem­pora­ry ex­chan­ge and me­dia­ti­on for­mats will pro­vi­de a va­rie­ty of ex­pe­ri­en­ces with the art form. Par­ti­ci­pants of all ages and with dif­fe­rent le­vels of pre­vious ex­pe­ri­ence are cor­di­al­lyin­vi­ted to Tanz­Sprint14in or­der to train tog­e­ther, im­pro­vi­se or ex­chan­ge ide­as with other in­te­rested par­ties.

This ye­ar's Tanz­Sprint will take place for the first time in coope­ra­ti­on with our long-stan­ding part­ner Tanz­la­bor_21/Tanz­ba­sis Frank­furt_Rhein_Main in the rooms of the Künst­ler­haus Mou­son­turm.

In ad­di­ti­on, the Mas­ter's pro­gram­me will be car­ri­ed out in clo­se con­nec­tion with the pro­fes­sio­nal field in the as­so­cia­ti­on of the Hes­si­an Thea­t­re Aca­de­my and in coope­ra­ti­on with The For­sy­the Com­pa­ny/Mo­ti­on Bank

Kick-Off Tanz­Sprint14 @ Tanz­tag Rhein_Main, May 17, 2014

As part of Tanz­tag Rhein_Main 2014, an open tea­ching for­mat will be of­fe­red by stu­dents of the in­ter­na­tio­nal­ly ori­en­ted Mas­ter's pro­gram Con­tem­pora­ry Dance Edu­ca­ti­on. The kick-off to Tanz­Sprint not only pro­vi­des in­sights into their spe­cial way of tea­ching dance but at the same time opens the work­shop se­ries Tanz­Sprint, which will take place from 18.5. in coope­ra­ti­on with Tanz­la­bor_21 at Künst­ler­haus Mou­son­turm. On Tanz­tag Rhein_Main, a new trai­ning ap­proach will be of­fe­red every 30 mi­nu­tes over a pe­ri­od of 2 hours, in­cor­po­ra­ting ele­ments from va­rious dance and body tech­ni­ques such as yoga, BMC and dance im­pro­vi­sa­ti­on tech­ni­ques. HTA Post­gra­dua­te Pro­gram "Ar­tis­tic Re­se­arch", May 8, 2014

For the first time, the Hes­si­an Thea­t­re Aca­de­my is awar­ding four ar­tis­tic re­se­arch scho­l­ar­ships to for­mer HTA stu­dents. Congra­tu­la­ti­ons to MA CoDE alum­ni Lili Mi­ha­jl­o­vic Ram­p­re and Ja­son Adam Ja­cobs, who will each re­cei­ve seed fun­ding of up to €6,000 for their re­se­arch pro­jec­ts.

Wild Week "Dance Tech­ni­ques," April 22-25, 2014

Fourth-ge­nera­ti­on MA CoDE stu­dents teach pro­fes­sio­nal trai­ning for the first time in dai­ly ro­ta­ting ses­si­ons. Over the cour­se of Wild Week, va­rious mo­dern and con­tem­pora­ry dance tech­ni­ques will be trai­ned and ex­plo­red in in­di­vi­du­al and team tea­ching ses­si­ons that build on each other. The trai­nings are ba­sed on the re­sults of the in­ter­na­tio­nal re­se­arch pro­ject Dance Tech­ni­ques 2010

Phy­si­cal In­tro­duc­tion: Saar­län­di­sches Staats­thea­ter in Saar­brü­cken, 29 March 2014

Af­ter the suc­cess­ful im­ple­men­ta­ti­on of the new me­dia­ti­on for­mat "Phy­si­cal In­tro­duc­tion" at the in­ter­na­tio­nal dance fes­ti­val Tanz in Au­gust 2013, MA CoDE alum­ni in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with the cour­se and the Saar­län­di­sches Staats­thea­ter Saar­brü­cken will also im­ple­ment the for­mat in Saar­brü­cken. Gre­go­ry Li­ving­ston and Anja Born­sek (third ge­nera­ti­on MA CoDE), in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with dan­cers from the com­pa­ny, will of­fer a phy­si­cal me­dia­ti­on for­mat to the per­for­mance of ANA­STA­SIA/SHADOWS on four dates. A fourth ge­nera­ti­on stu­dent will as­sist with the for­mat.
