Welcome of the President for the summer semester 2026

Dear stu­dents,
dear col­leagues in tea­ching and ad­mi­nis­tra­ti­on,

on be­half of the Pre­si­den­ti­al Board, I would like to wel­co­me you to the 2026 sum­mer se­mes­ter at the HfMDK. I hope that we will all use the mo­men­tum of spring and start the se­mes­ter with en­er­gy and joy to be sur­pri­sed by ar­tis­tic, aca­de­mic and per­so­nal ex­pe­ri­en­ces and in­sights! And when I look at the full time­ta­bles, the many an­noun­ced events and the li­vely hust­le and bust­le in the foy­er, courty­ard and can­te­en, I am sure that we will suc­ceed!

In the uni­ver­si­ty com­mit­tees this se­mes­ter, we are con­ti­nuing to fo­cus on the im­ple­men­ta­ti­on of the Hes­si­an Hig­her Edu­ca­ti­on Pact for the ye­ars 2026-2031 and the ne­cessa­ry re­duc­tions. In a con­cep­tu­al pha­se, we want to joint­ly de­ter­mi­ne how the HfMDK can re­main suc­cess­ful in the face of dif­fi­cult con­di­ti­ons, con­ti­nue to pur­sue its uni­ver­si­ty de­ve­lop­ment goals and take ad­van­ta­ge of new op­por­tu­nities, e.g. through di­gi­ta­li­za­ti­on.

Even if a fee­ling of ex­haus­ti­on may so­me­ti­mes ari­se in the face of this chal­len­ge, the gre­at com­mit­ment that I see from you makes me op­ti­mistic. Tog­e­ther, we will suc­ceed in fur­ther de­ve­lo­ping the HfMDK as a good place to learn and work, as a uni­ver­si­ty in which coope­ra­ti­on and col­la­bo­ra­ti­on are at the heart of stu­dy­ing, tea­ching, re­se­arch and ad­mi­nis­tra­ti­on.
