Studying and working without fear of ambiguous proximity, offensive language or assaultive physicality - that should be a matter of course. But it is not. Not even at music academies, not even at ours.

That's why the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) is taking part in the nationwide action day ART. POWER. HUMANITY, which will take place at all German music universities on November 27, 2025. The aim is to open up perspectives critical of power, raise awareness of transgressions and strengthen the joint commitment to a culture of respect.

The event is aimed at students, lecturers and university staff. To ensure that as many people as possible can take part, classes and meetings are suspended during this period.

Thursday, November 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
Main building of the HfMDK

The day begins at 10 a.m. in the foyer with a short welcome and information about the morning's schedule. Afterwards, all members of the university will have the opportunity to take part in two blocks of workshops and lectures - on topics such as body, language, boundaries, consent in dance, drama and music-making, abuse of power and counseling services.

Registration for the individual workshops and lectures: Via Asimut

President Prof. Elmar Fulda calls on all members of the HfMDK to actively participate: "It takes all of us - our will, our attention, our sensitivity and the courage of each individual to create clarity against the gray areas. Creativity and development succeed best in an atmosphere of respect, recognition and appreciation."
