"Angst / Fressen / Männerherzen" is the follow-up production to Menancholia by Amaru Albancando, Nora Frizzi Auerbach, Jakob Boyny and Gil Hoz-Klemme (premiere 2023 at Frankfurt LAB). Together with the choir of melancholic men, they explored the cultural history of melancholy, the inability to talk about feelings and tested new ways of relating. Based on research into generational conflicts with father and son, Vincent Eissing-Boyny and Jakob Boyny, the development of the play poses the very big questions of closeness, responsibility and solidarity.

Now the choir of melancholic men is back on stage - but with a different cast. Men between the age of 24 and 70 ponder their uselessness in the face of political and personal crises: nursing crisis, loneliness, military service, fear of the future, wars, polarization, climate catastrophe, fear of decline. They share a feeling of powerlessness and the desire to make a difference. They do what they do best: music, dancing, telling anecdotes, talking to and about each other. The choir of melancholic men ask themselves: What can we contribute and learn from each other in times of crisis? And will it really be enough?
