Grants for HfMDK stu­dents

Spon­sor­ship Award of the Alix Steil­ber­ger Cul­tu­ral Foun­da­ti­on

Every year, the HfMDK awards two spon­sor­ship pri­zes from the Alix Steil­ber­ger Kul­tur-Stif­tung to par­ti­cu­lar­ly ta­len­ted third-year fe­ma­le stu­dents on the Ba­che­lor's de­gree cour­se in Dance (BA­tanz) - in the ca­te­go­ries of Con­tem­pora­ry Dance and Clas­si­cal Dance re­spec­tively.

Open to fe­ma­le stu­dents in their third year of the BA Dance pro­gram.

AP­P­LI­CA­TI­ON DEAD­LINE: 01.06.2026

Carls Scho­l­ar­ship

The Carls Scho­l­ar­ship of the HfMDK sup­ports tea­cher trai­ning and mas­ter's stu­dents of mu­sic edu­ca­ti­on in the de­ve­lop­ment and im­ple­men­ta­ti­on of a mu­sic edu­ca­ti­on pro­ject with up to 5,000 eu­ros. In terms of con­tent, it should be lin­ked to a cur­rent or al­rea­dy com­ple­ted ar­tis­tic, mu­sic di­dac­tic or mu­sic edu­ca­ti­on cour­se or can also take place as part of an aca­de­mic as­sign­ment. The du­ra­ti­on of the scho­l­ar­ship is up to 12 mon­ths. The scho­l­ar­ship amount is paid out in two in­stall­ments.

Schim­mel­haar grants

HfMDK stu­dents can ap­p­ly for a grant for a set of new strings, new bow co­vers, in­stru­ment main­ten­an­ce or ma­te­ri­als. 50% of the costs can be co­ve­r­ed up to a ma­xi­mum of 100 eu­ros against a re­ce­ipt from an in­stru­ment ma­ker's work­shop or mu­sic shop.

Open to stu­dents of Ar­tis­tic Trai­ning in Mu­sic (KAM) or Ar­tis­tic In­stru­men­tal Trai­ning and tea­cher trai­ning cour­ses.

AP­P­LI­CA­TI­ON DEAD­LINE: Ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons can be sub­mit­ted at any time, the­re are no dead­lines. Stu­dents can ap­p­ly once per se­mes­ter.

Ex­ter­nal fun­ding: Ar­tis­tic stu­dy pro­grams

Ot­ti­lie Roeder­stein Scho­l­ar­ship

The an­nu­al scho­l­ar­ship fi­nan­ces the ar­tis­tic rea­li­za­ti­on of a pro­ject (e.g. ex­hi­bi­ti­on, con­cert, per­for­mance, rea­li­za­ti­on of a work of art) with a to­tal fun­ding amount of up to 40,000 eu­ros. Only fe­ma­le ar­tists (in­clu­ding non-bi­na­ry and in­ter­sex ar­tists) who rea­li­ze the pro­ject im­me­dia­te­ly af­ter com­ple­ting their trai­ning are eli­gi­ble to ap­p­ly. Pro­of of a Hes­si­an art col­le­ge de­gree or on­go­ing stu­dies must be pro­vi­ded and, in the case of per­sons not li­ving in Hes­se, the pro­ject must be shown at a lo­ca­ti­on in Hes­se. In­de­pen­dent ar­tis­tic ac­tivi­ty is also a pre­re­qui­si­te for ap­p­li­ca­ti­on.

New Mu­sic Im­pul­se

The Im­puls Neue Mu­sik fun­ding pro­gram sup­ports mu­sic pro­jec­ts that fo­cus on the ex­chan­ge bet­ween the Fran­co­pho­ne and Ger­man-speaking cul­tu­ral are­as. The pro­jec­ts must be im­ple­men­ted bet­ween Au­gust 2026 and July 2027 and de­ve­lo­ped and rea­li­zed in Ger­ma­ny, Fran­ce, Switz­er­land or Lu­xem­bourg.

PE fun­ding

The Ger­man Mu­sic Pro­mo­ti­on In­itia­ti­ve sup­ports young mu­si­ci­ans and up-and-co­m­ing bands fi­nan­ci­al­ly with the purcha­se of in­stru­ments, CD pro­duc­tions or vi­deo re­cord­ings, awards pro­ject-re­la­ted scho­l­ar­ships and pays grants for mas­ter clas­ses, com­pe­ti­ti­ons and con­cert pro­jec­ts. Ap­p­li­cants must be bet­ween 15 and 26 ye­ars old, have Ger­man ci­ti­zenship or a spe­cial re­la­ti­ons­hip to Ger­man-speaking coun­tries and also pro­vi­de pro­of of need. Only stu­dents of the fol­lo­wing sub­jec­ts can be sup­por­ted: Pia­no, harp, harp­si­chord, vio­lin, vio­la, vio­lon­cel­lo, dou­ble bass, re­cor­der, flu­te, oboe, cla­ri­net, bas­so­on, sa­xo­pho­ne, trum­pet, horn, trom­bo­ne, tuba, per­cus­sion, cham­ber mu­sic en­sem­bles.

Ernst Efin­ger Scho­l­ar­ship

Young mu­si­ci­ans from lar­ge fa­mi­lies with at least four child­ren are sup­por­ted by pay­ing a mon­th­ly con­tri­bu­ti­on towards mu­sic les­sons, sheet mu­sic, con­cert clot­hing, mas­ter clas­ses, in­stru­ment insuran­ce or si­mi­lar costs. The fun­ding amount is in­di­vi­du­al and the fun­ding pe­ri­od is 12 mon­ths with the pos­si­bi­li­ty of ex­ten­si­on.

Dance Foun­da­ti­on

Dance pro­fes­sio­nals in tran­si­ti­on to a new pro­fes­si­on af­ter an ac­tive dance ca­re­er can ap­p­ly to Stif­tung Tanz for a one-off grant (e.g. for tui­ti­on fees, cour­se fees or tra­vel costs). A mi­ni­mum of se­ven ye­ars of pro­fes­sio­nal ac­tivi­ty is re­qui­red, of which at least 5 ye­ars must be in Ger­ma­ny. Non-EU ci­ti­zens re­qui­re a per­ma­nent re­si­dence per­mit in or­der to ap­p­ly.

Klaus Thimm Mu­sic Fun­ding

The as­so­cia­ti­on Mu­sik­för­de­rung Klaus Thimm e.V. sup­ports the fi­nan­cing of mu­si­cal in­stru­ments, fur­ther mu­si­cal trai­ning and also pro­mo­tes pro­jec­ts. Ap­p­li­cants must not be ol­der than 30 ye­ars of age and must sub­mit an ar­tist pro­fi­le/pro­fi­le, a pro­ject de­scrip­ti­on and a let­ter of mo­ti­va­ti­on for the ap­p­li­ca­ti­on.

AP­P­LI­CA­TI­ON DEAD­LINE: 30.06.2026

Jüt­ting Scho­l­ar­ship

The Jüt­ting Foun­da­ti­on awards four scho­l­ar­ships of 10,000 eu­ros each and four spon­sor­ship scho­l­ar­ships of 6,000 eu­ros each. Ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons are open to mu­sic stu­dents in the sub­jec­ts of pia­no, dou­ble bass, cla­ri­net, trom­bo­ne or harp who were born af­ter Oc­to­ber 15, 2003. The fun­ding re­qui­re­ment is also Ger­man ci­ti­zenship, a de­gree from a Ger­man mu­sic aca­de­my or a Po­lish mu­sic aca­de­my. The ap­p­li­ca­ti­on must in­clu­de au­dio-vi­su­al re­cord­ings of works from at least three eras.

Idea­lo scho­l­ar­ship

Idea­lo awards a full scho­l­ar­ship worth a to­tal of 9,000 eu­ros for a fun­ding pe­ri­od of 12 mon­ths. Ap­p­li­cants should have a spe­cial ta­lent and de­mons­tra­te above-average skills and per­for­mance.

AmkA - Wel­co­me and In­for­ma­ti­on Cen­ter

The Of­fice for Mul­ti­cul­tu­ral Af­fairs has a ser­vice point with va­rious ad­vi­so­ry ser­vices, for examp­le on the sub­ject of ten­ant pro­tec­tion. For­eign stu­dents can also con­tact their per­so­nal ad­vi­sor at the For­eig­ner­s' Re­gis­tra­ti­on Of­fice via the ad­vi­sors at the Wel­co­me and In­for­ma­ti­on Cen­ter.

Cul­tu­ral Coun­se­ling Hes­se

The LKB Hes­sen of­fers cul­tu­ral workers and cul­tu­ral edu­ca­ti­on ac­tors in Hes­sen con­tact points for in­di­vi­du­al ques­ti­ons on fi­nan­ci­al sup­port and coope­ra­ti­on and pro­vi­des re­fer­rals to ex­perts on to­pics such as en­er­gy checks, sustai­na­bi­li­ty, busi­ness start-ups, or­ga­ni­za­tio­nal de­ve­lop­ment, ac­ces­si­bi­li­ty and in­clu­si­on or tax and le­gal is­su­es.

Cul­tu­re pass

Kul­tur für ALLE e.V. is­su­es the Kul­tur­pass, which of­fers hea­vi­ly dis­coun­ted ad­mis­si­on to nu­me­rous cul­tu­ral events. It costs a sym­bo­lic 1 euro, is va­lid for one year and must then be ap­p­lied for again. Eli­gi­ble ap­p­li­cants in­clu­de stu­dents who re­cei­ve sup­port un­der the Fe­deral Trai­ning As­si­s­tan­ce Act (BA­föG) and re­fu­gee stu­dents.

A ten­ner up to 25

This sea­son, the Alte Oper is once again of­fe­ring stu­dents the op­por­tu­ni­ty to purcha­se ti­ckets at a re­du­ced pri­ce.

Housing be­ne­fit

Stu­dents who are not (or no lon­ger) en­t­it­led to BA­föG can re­cei­ve a rent sub­s­idy, known as "Wohn­geld", from the Housing Of­fice, pro­vi­ded they meet the eli­gi­bi­li­ty re­qui­re­ments.
In­ter­na­tio­nal stu­dents should first seek ad­vice, as the re­ce­ipt of housing be­ne­fit can af­fect their re­si­dence sta­tus.

Job of­fers

One pos­si­bi­li­ty to find sui­ta­ble job of­fers is the on­line job ex­chan­ge of the Stu­die­ren­den­werk. The Stu­die­ren­den­werk team can also ad­vi­se you on fi­nan­cing your stu­dies and pos­si­ble jobs.
