June 17th - 21st, Tanztriennale 2026 Hamburg, Kampnagel, K3
The Tanztriennale, as a new initiative for dance, is a long-term, recurring event: Dance is to be made visible, strengthened, and recognized as a socially relevant practice.
It focuses on bringing together various dance styles, to showcase current trends in contemporary dance, to appeal to a broad audience, and to promote professional exchange.
The festival and the professional exchange are an initiative of the Federal Cultural Foundation under the direction of Artistic Director Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska. The range of invited artists as part of the inaugural edition ranges from internationally renowned companies to the local Hamburg dance scene.
As part of the four-day forum from June 18th - 21st, professional dance artists, international delegations, and representatives from various cultural policy networks and organizations in Germany and around the world come to Hamburg, to discuss how dance as an art form can be strengthened and the visibility of artistic diversity increased. Students from both generations of the MA CoDE program participate in the discursive and physical formats, including panel discussions, moderated sessions, and dance workshops. They attend two performances each to engage with current theoretical and artistic discourses in dance.
June 23rd & 24th, Soft Skills in Dance, Patricia Carolin Mai
What is the connection between contemporary dance and the development of soft skills? The European research project “Empowering Dance” explored this question. Dancer and choreographer Patricia Carolin Mai presents the findings. The workshop explores implicit forms of knowledge and facilitates a reflective approach to and practical application of soft skills in one’s own dance teaching in one’s own teaching practice.
July 07th & 08th, Movement Analysis, Claudia Jeschke
Claudia Jeschke leads a course on movement analysis and the scientific documentation and notation of dance and movement, based on her reconstruction of Vaslav Nijinsky’s “L’Après-midi d’un faune.”
July 15th, Techno Rave, Fanni Schack & DJ schackmatt
For the current G11 and G12 generations, the semester is framed by two techno raves featuring an underground symphony. Under the guidance of MA CoDE alumna Fanni Schack, the students explore various states of movement and perception, accompanied by analog and electronic beats from DJ schackmatt. This shared, collective experience, to which all MA CoDE generations are invited, serves to strengthen the network.
