The He­lix Trio was foun­ded in 2022 by vio­li­nist Jau­me An­gelès Fité, cel­list Guil­ler­mo Or­te­ga San­tos and pia­nist Pau­la Bel­zu­negui Mo­re­no at the Ba­sel Uni­ver­si­ty of Mu­sic (FHNW). It is cur­r­ent­ly com­ple­ting sup­ple­men­ta­ry stu­dies with the re­now­ned pro­fes­sors An­ton Kern­jak, Clau­dio Mar­tí­nez-Meh­ner, Zol­tán Fe­jérvá­ri, Sil­via Si­mio­nes­cu and Anna Ge­bert, and Ra­fa­el Ro­sen­feld and Rai­ner Schmidt are also con­tri­bu­ting to the en­sem­ble's ar­tis­tic de­ve­lop­ment. Sin­ce 2023, the trio has been a mem­ber of the Eu­ropean Cham­ber Mu­sic Aca­de­my (ECMA) and part of the Le Di­mo­re del Quar­tet­to net­work.

The He­lix Trio has been awar­ded several pres­ti­gious pri­zes, in­clu­ding the Fi­lip­po Ni­co­sia Award 2024 in Ita­ly, the "Emer­ging En­sem­ble 2025" award from the Spa­nish so­cie­ty Fest­Clá­si­ca, first place at the OR­PHEUS Swiss Cham­ber Mu­sic Com­pe­ti­ti­on 2022 and at the La Fla­ma 2023 com­pe­ti­ti­on in Bar­ce­lo­na.

The en­sem­ble has al­rea­dy per­for­med at ma­jor fes­ti­vals such as the Pia­no Trio Fest in Bern, the Swiss Cham­ber Mu­sic Com­pe­ti­ti­on and the Mu­sik­dorf Er­nen fes­ti­val. In 2023 it made its de­but at the Pa­lau de la Mú­si­ca Ca­ta­la­na and in the 2024/25 sea­son it will per­form at the Au­di­to­ri de Bar­ce­lo­na. The trio has worked with re­now­ned mu­si­ci­ans such as Ste­ven Is­ser­lis, Pa­tri­cia Ko­patchin­ska­ja, Ro­bert Le­vin and Heinz Hol­li­ger and has ta­ken part in mas­ter clas­ses at the IMS Prus­sia Cove in Corn­wall and the In­ter­na­tio­nal Cham­ber Mu­sic Aca­de­my in Vic, Ca­ta­lo­nia.
