Digitalization department
The digital transformation is constantly changing our university landscape and re-shapes our work and study environments. Our processes and structures, the way we work and our culture are constantly changing. The ever-increasing complexity and dynamism of projects also requires the further development and adaptation of appropriate process models. An innovative and future-oriented administration is the foundation of a modern university. Seamless networking creates more transparency and therefore flexibility.
The interplay between people, processes and systems as well as effective change management are crucial to success. In this context, the digital transformation is flanked and supported by the digitalization department. This unit sees itself as a mainstay for providing advice on all digitalization issues.
The digitalization department is assigned to the Vice President for University Development and Digitalization.

Hessian Digital Pact
Digitalization is a strategic task for the future for the state of Hesse and its universities. Numerous measures have already been initiated in the past phases of the Higher Education Pact - both within individual universities and in cross-university cooperation as part of state university development planning. These developments are now being built upon in order to sustainably advance the digital transformation in teaching, research and administration.
To strengthen Hesse as a location for science, the universities in Hesse have launched the "Hessian Digital Pact for Universities" (HDPH) together with the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture and the Ministry of Digitalization and Innovation. The aim of this pact is to promote projects that further develop the digital transformation of universities beyond existing structures and measures. The funding from the Digital Pact supplements the resources that the universities are already using independently for digitalization and the expansion of their information infrastructure.
At the HfMDK, corresponding projects have been funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture using funds from the Hessian Ministry for Digitization and Innovation since 2021.
