BA­d­ance: FAQ about ap­p­li­ca­ti­on and ap­ti­tu­de test

Can I ap­p­ly to the BA­d­ance pro­gram for the win­ter and sum­mer se­mes­ter?

You can only ap­p­ly for the BA­d­ance pro­gram for the win­ter se­mes­ter. The­re­fo­re, on­line ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons can only be sub­mit­ted bet­ween 15.01. and 01.04., not bet­ween 01.10. and 01.12.

Can I also ap­p­ly wi­t­hout a high school di­plo­ma, i.e. with a vo­ca­tio­nal high school di­plo­ma or ano­t­her school qua­li­fi­ca­ti­on?

Yes, you can also ap­p­ly with a vo­ca­tio­nal di­plo­ma or a high school di­plo­ma. In any case, a copy of the last school re­port must be sub­mit­ted with the ap­p­li­ca­ti­on. The mis­sing uni­ver­si­ty ent­ran­ce qua­li­fi­ca­ti­on can be re­pla­ced by an out­stan­ding ar­tis­tic ta­lent (at least 19 of 25 pos­si­ble points in the ap­ti­tu­de test) ac­cord­ing to §54 pa­ra­graph 4 sen­tence 3 HHG. The ar­tis­tic ta­lent is de­ter­mi­ned in the ap­ti­tu­de test.

How of­ten can I ap­p­ly to the HfMDK to stu­dy dance?

You can ap­p­ly for BA­d­ance twice at our uni­ver­si­ty. The­re was an ex­cep­ti­on due to the Co­ro­na cir­cum­s­tan­ces in 2020: an­yo­ne who has ap­p­lied here and fai­led the ap­ti­tu­de test will not be credi­ted with a fai­led at­tempt.

Who is in the ex­ami­na­ti­on com­mit­tee?

The ex­ami­na­ti­on com­mit­tee is made up of per­ma­nent tea­ching fa­cul­ty and tea­chers from the dance de­part­ment with a mi­ni­mum of three mem­bers.

How long does the ap­ti­tu­de test take?

Day 1 the qua­li­fy­ing ex­ami­na­ti­on starts at 10 a.m. and lasts un­til 8 p.m. at the la­test, day 2 it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts un­til 7 p.m., alt­hough we will en­dea­vor to com­ple­te the pro­cess in good time.

When will the re­sults be an­noun­ced?

The re­sults of day 1 will be an­noun­ced ap­pro­xi­mate­ly at 8 p.m. that day. The re­sults of day 2 will be an­noun­ced ap­pro­xi­mate­ly at 7 p.m. 

What clo­thes should I wear for the ap­ti­tu­de test?

For bal­let trai­ning, plea­se wear form-fit­ting trai­ning clo­thes (leo­tard, tights) and slip­pers. For con­tem­pora­ry trai­ning, com­for­ta­ble trai­ning clo­thes may be worn. Work is done both ba­re­foot and in socks.

Do I need to bring my poin­te shoes?

No, the­re is no trai­ning in poin­te shoes in the BA­d­ance ap­ti­tu­de test.

Do I get feed­back for the vi­de­os I sent in?

No, for the pre-selec­tion the­re is no feed­back pos­si­ble.

Can my com­pa­n­ions stay in the dance de­part­ment du­ring the ap­ti­tu­de test?

Plea­se note that your fa­mi­ly and fri­ends are not al­lo­wed in the HfMDK dance de­part­ment du­ring the exam, but are wel­co­me to wait in the spa­cious foy­er of the uni­ver­si­ty. Ca­rers who ac­com­pa­ny and sup­port ap­p­li­cants with disa­bi­li­ties or spe­cial sup­port needs are ex­empt from this re­gu­la­ti­on.

Can I show­er in the dance de­part­ment af­ter the ap­ti­tu­de test?

Yes, this is pos­si­ble.

In which lan­guage will the ap­ti­tu­de test be held?

The pre­sence ap­ti­tu­de test is held bi­lin­gual­ly, in Ger­man and Eng­lish.
