Scholarship from the Studienstiftung for Marie Houssin
Marie Houssin, a bachelor’s student in dance at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, has received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. In July, she participated in the artistic selection process in Berlin and was subsequently accepted into the program.
In addition to financial and personal support, the scholarship offers a cultural and academic program designed to foster exchange and the personal development of the recipients. It also provides opportunities for networking among the recipients and with alumni of the Studienstiftung. The scholarship program is guided by the principles of excellence, initiative, and responsibility.
Marie Houssin was born in France in 2004 and began dancing at the age of five. She completed her pre-professional dance training at the Académie Internationale de la Danse in Paris as part of a multidisciplinary program. In 2023, she passed the EAT technical aptitude exam in contemporary dance and subsequently continued her training at CobosMika in Spain. Since 2024, she has been pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dance at the HfMDK Frankfurt.
Her training includes ballet, contemporary dance, the Graham technique, and modern jazz. She has worked with choreographers such as Julian Barnett, Anne Jung, Richie Oberscheven, Damien Gmür, and Sade Mamedova, and has explored the repertoires of Ohad Naharin and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
»I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join such an inspiring community. I am excited to meet new people, discover new topics, and exchange ideas with others. I believe art and society are connected, and I see this scholarship as a space to explore this relationship.«Marie Houssin
