Luis Gehrmann

In­tro­duc­tion

The ba­ri­to­ne Luis Gehr­mann is 25 ye­ars old and stu­dies at the Frank­furt Uni­ver­si­ty of Mu­sic and Per­forming Arts (HfMDK) in the class of Pro­fes­sor Tho­mas Heyer.
Born in Er­bach, he be­gan his mu­si­cal edu­ca­ti­on at the age of 5 at the Oden­wald Mu­sic School. The­re, he per­for­med lea­ding ro­les in mu­si­cals and re­cei­ved 3 scho­l­ar­ships for his clas­si­cal sin­ging.

Along­si­de an in­iti­al ca­re­er path as a busi­ness in­for­ma­tics spe­cia­list, he con­ti­nued his vo­cal stu­dies, which led him to re­now­ned tea­chers such as so­pra­no Ma­ri­na Un­ruh, ope­ra sin­ger Der­rick Ball­ard, voice pro­fes­sor Bernd Va­len­tin, and ul­ti­mate­ly to his cur­rent pro­fes­sor.
Af­ter re­cei­ving of­fers from the HfMT Ham­burg, UdK Ber­lin, and HfMDK Frank­furt for a Ba­che­lor’s de­gree in clas­si­cal sin­ging, he left his job in busi­ness in­for­ma­tics be­hind in 2023.

He is cur­r­ent­ly a re­ci­pi­ent of the Deutsch­land­sti­pen­di­um scho­l­ar­ship at the HfMDK Frank­furt. His ver­sa­ti­le re­per­toire in­clu­des ope­ra ari­as by com­po­sers such as Mo­zart and Wag­ner, art songs by Schu­bert and Lo­ewe, as well as ora­to­rio ari­as by Bach and Fau­ré.
