Ma­ria Ale­jan­dra Oje­da is a Co­lom­bi­an con­tem­pora­ry dan­cer and per­for­mer. Her jour­ney in mo­ve­ment be­gan at a young age with gym­nastics and ca­poei­ra. At four­te­en, she fell in love with street dance styles, par­ti­cu­lar­ly waacking and voguing. Af­ter three ye­ars of free­style trai­ning and par­ti­ci­pa­ting in waacking dance batt­les, she emer­ged as one of the first waa­ckers in her city, Bu­ca­ra­man­ga, un­der the name A.K.A. (Also Known As) Zay­tha.

Fol­lo­wing high school, she mo­ved to Bo­go­tá to pur­sue a BA in Per­forming Arts at Pon­ti­fi­cia Uni­ver­sidad Ja­ve­r­ia­na. Du­ring her stu­dies, she lear­ned a va­rie­ty of con­tem­pora­ry dance tech­ni­ques, in­clu­ding Fly­ing Low, Piso Móvil, Re­lease, and Dance Im­pro­vi­sa­ti­on. She also trai­ned in so­ma­tic prac­tices and bal­let, re­fi­ning  her per­for­mance skills. Her ex­pe­ri­en­ces in the pro­gram spar­ked a deep in­te­rest in dance histo­ry, trans­mis­si­on, and mo­ve­ment re­se­arch. Du­ring her stu­dies, Ma­ria got de­eper in her re­se­arch about Vogue and  Ball­room sce­ne in Bo­go­tà, being part of The Kiki house of Tu­pam­a­ras the first kiki house in Co­lom­bia and The Roy­al House of De la Blan­ca from NY.

In 2020, she ob­tai­ned  her ba­che­lor’s de­gree and be­gan her pro­fes­sio­nal dance ca­re­er as an ap­pren­ti­ce dan­cer with the Ju­lio Ma­rio San­to Dom­in­go Con­tem­pora­ry Dance Com­pa­ny in Bo­go­ta un­der the ar­tis­tic di­rec­tor Sa­rah Storer. Sin­ce 2021, she has de­ve­lo­ped her ca­re­er as a free­lan­ce dan­cer, col­la­bo­ra­ting on va­rious per­for­mance pro­jec­ts with Co­lom­bi­an cho­reo­graph­ers like Jim­my Ran­gel, Yo­van­ny Ma­ti­nez, Jen­ni­fer Caro. Ad­di­tio­nal­ly, she has worked in the com­mer­ci­al and en­ter­tain­ment sec­tors, dan­cing for a Dis­ney Plus TV show and a Ni­ckel­ode­on mo­vie and tea­ching in some stu­di­os in Bu­ca­ra­man­ga and Bo­go­ta. In 2022, she had the op­por­tu­ni­ty to cho­reo­graph her first mu­sic vi­deo for an ex­pe­ri­men­tal mu­sic band Pleu­ra.

Throughout her pro­fes­sio­nal jour­ney and dance prac­tice, her in­te­rest in dance trans­mis­si­on and mo­ve­ment re­se­arch has grown si­gni­fi­cant­ly, be­co­m­ing a vi­tal part of her de­ve­lop­ment as an ar­tist. This cu­rio­si­ty about how to uti­li­ze her back­ground to crea­te, struc­tu­re, and sha­re al­ter­na­ti­ve ways of mo­ving mo­ved her to Frank­furt, whe­re she is pur­suing her stu­dies at Ma­CODE in HFMDK.
