Hes­sen Ex­chan­ge Pro­gram

For the U.S. sta­tes of Mas­sa­chu­setts and Wis­con­sin and the Aus­tra­li­an sta­te of Queens­land, the sta­te of Hes­se of­fers pro­grams that al­low stu­dents to stu­dy at a uni­ver­si­ty wi­t­hout ha­ving to pay tui­ti­on.

Pre­re­qui­si­tes:

• Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills (pro­of is re­qui­red in some ca­ses)
• Very good aca­de­mic per­for­mance
• At the time of de­par­tu­re, the 3rd se­mes­ter (Ba­che­lor) or the 2nd se­mes­ter (Mas­ter) must have been com­ple­ted
• Good know­ledge of Ger­man (for for­eign stu­dents)

In Wis­con­sin and Queens­land, a se­mes­ter ab­road can be ta­ken up for the win­ter se­mes­ter as well as for the sum­mer se­mes­ter. In Mas­sa­chu­setts, a se­mes­ter ab­road is only pos­si­ble for the win­ter se­mes­ter.

Mas­sa­chu­setts
Ear­ly Sep­tem­ber through Ja­nu­a­ry

Wis­con­sin
Se­mes­ter 1: Late Au­gust through De­cem­ber
Se­mes­ter 2: Ear­ly Ja­nu­a­ry to late May

Queens­land
Se­mes­ter 1: End of Fe­bru­a­ry to end of June
Se­mes­ter 2: End of July to end of No­vem­ber

Some col­le­ges have tri­mes­ters. The exact se­mes­ter times can be found on the web­sites of the uni­ver­si­ties.

Plea­se note that the ap­p­li­ca­ti­on must be sub­mit­ted to the In­ter­na­tio­nal Of­fice 1 year be­fo­re the de­si­red de­par­tu­re date!

For Mas­sa­chu­setts and Wis­con­sin the ap­p­li­ca­ti­on dead­line is in the win­ter se­mes­ter, for Queens­land in the sum­mer se­mes­ter. The exact dead­lines are de­ter­mi­ned and an­noun­ced by the In­ter­na­tio­nal Of­fice.
