Which pro­fes­sors can I au­di­tion for?

The­re are cur­r­ent­ly three pro­fes­sors for clas­si­cal voice at the HfMDK: Prof. Targ­ler-Sell, Prof. Breedt and Prof. Heyer - you are wel­co­me to au­di­tion for them.

Can I au­di­tion for more than one pro­fes­sor?

Un­for­tu­n­a­te­ly, for or­ga­ni­za­tio­nal rea­sons, au­di­tions are only pos­si­ble with one of the pro­fes­sors on the info day.

What re­per­toire do I bring to the au­di­tion?

Sing so­me­thing you feel com­for­ta­ble with and that shows your strengths. Pre­fer­a­b­ly an aria from an ope­ra/ope­ret­ta or an art song. Plea­se bring at least two pie­ces: all sheet mu­sic glued for the pia­nist!

What are the of­fers at the Open Day, why does this day exist?

On the open day we of­fer the fol­lo­wing:

  • Au­di­tions with your pro­fes­sor of choice, in­clu­ding ad­vice,
  • Open les­sons of each sin­ging class and
  • In­for­ma­ti­on ses­si­ons on mu­sic theo­ry and au­ral trai­ning.

This au­di­tion is not an ent­ran­ce exam! It is in­ten­ded to pro­vi­de an as­sess­ment and cla­ri­fi­ca­ti­on of what the con­tent and re­qui­re­ments are for this stu­dy pro­gram.

Can I bring my own pia­nist?

Of cour­se you can. Howe­ver, we have won­der­ful pia­nists here on site who can spon­ta­ne­ous­ly play and ac­com­pa­ny ever­ything.

Can you also stu­dy pop mu­sic or mu­si­cal at the HfMDK as an ar­tis­tic sub­ject?

Not in the BA and MA pro­grams, which are the sub­ject of the Clas­si­cal Voice Open Day - here we of­fer stu­dies in clas­si­cal sin­ging in the are­as of Lied, ope­ra and ora­to­rio and re­la­ted are­as. Ma­jors with a fo­cus on po­pu­lar mu­sic (in­clu­ding voice) are avail­ab­le at the HfMDK in the stu­dy pro­gram Mu­sic Tea­cher Trai­ning for Se­con­da­ry Schools (L3).

What should I wear? Is the­re a dress code?

No - you can come with what you feel com­for­ta­ble and how you would like to pre­sent yours­elf.

Does the open day cost anything?

No. All events are free of char­ge and open to all par­ti­ci­pants in­te­rested in stu­dy­ing clas­si­cal voice.

How long does the open day last?

The open day starts at 9:30 a.m. with re­gis­tra­ti­on and lasts un­til the af­ter­noon. We can only cal­cu­la­te more pre­cise­ly when the num­ber of par­ti­ci­pants has been de­ter­mi­ned.

What else do I need to bring with me?

It is im­portant to have le­gi­ble sheet mu­sic in du­pli­ca­te of your pie­ce and a keen in­te­rest in our de­part­ment and the stu­dy of clas­si­cal voice.

Do I have to re­gis­ter?

Yes - plea­se email in­fo­tag-ge­sang@orga.hfmdk-frank­furt.de with the name of your pro­fes­sor of choice and you will re­cei­ve a time when your au­di­tion will be held on the open day.
