The Aus­tra­li­an com­po­ser, tea­cher, mu­sic thin­ker and re­se­ar­cher Liza Lim is co­m­ing to the HfMDK Frank­furt in 2024/25 as a guest pro­fes­sor of com­po­si­ti­on. And with her, her mu­sic on col­la­bo­ra­ti­ve and trans­cul­tu­ral the­mes that also place her work in a lar­ger eco­lo­gi­cal con­text. Be­au­ty, an­ger and noi­se, eco­lo­gi­cal con­nec­tions and fe­ma­le spi­ri­tu­al tra­di­ti­ons are also at the heart of Liza Lim's most re­cent works, which she com­po­ses on com­mis­si­on for the worl­d's most im­portant en­sem­bles and or­che­s­tras.

In 2024, Liza Lim was na­med Com­po­ser of the Year by Opus Klas­sik. She has also won a ma­jor re­se­arch grant to in­ves­ti­ga­te mu­sic and cross-spe­ci­es jus­ti­ce/eco­lo­gi­cal or su­per­hu­man per­cep­ti­on and the com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on of cli­ma­te sci­ence.

Lim's ca­ta­log of works ran­ges from solo pie­ces and cham­ber mu­sic, which are es­sen­ti­al re­per­toire pie­ces world­wi­de, to five strikin­gly dif­fe­rent ope­ras. In three work pha­ses at the HfMDK, she will pri­ma­ri­ly of­fer in­stru­men­tal work­shops. The pro­gram also in­clu­des an in­au­gu­ral lec­tu­re and va­rious dis­cus­sion for­mats, in­clu­ding as part of lec­tu­re se­ries or con­gres­ses held at the HfMDK.
