Welcome, George Lewis!

Ge­or­ge E. Le­wis is co­m­ing to Frank­furt! He is an im­pro­vi­sa­tio­nal mu­si­ci­an, com­pu­ter mu­sic pioneer, AI ex­pert, aut­hor, mu­sic thin­ker, mu­si­co­lo­gist - and En­do­wed Guest Pro­fes­sor of Com­po­si­ti­on 2025/26 at the HfMDK. Ge­or­ge Le­wis will be­gin his pro­fes­sor­ship on 20 Oc­to­ber with his in­au­gu­ral lec­tu­re on "New Mu­sic De­co­lo­ni­za­ti­on in Eight Dif­fi­cult Steps" and the first work pha­se.

Bet­ween Oc­to­ber 20 and 25, he will also of­fer lec­tu­re-rehe­ar­sals with HfMDK in­stru­men­ta­lists, a work­shop dis­cus­sion with the MA Big Band and a col­lo­qui­um with the com­po­si­ti­on class. Two fur­ther work pha­ses will fol­low in April and June 2026.
